From a single site in Beechworth. It sounds like the fruit has gone to notable regional producers in the past. It gets pressed by Chris Catlow and then, petrol bowser style, gets into barrels from Syrahmi and brought back home. Pip Foster does the winemaking that follows, well, it is pretty hands off, but wild ferment, time left on solids and then decisions past that come under her quarry.
Flavourtown and scintillating minerality. Proper stuff. Richness of nougat, vanilla cream, cinnamon, candied fennel with a brisk core of grapefruity freshness, hazy green apple juice and just-ripe nectarine notes. All of this very well meshed; texture shows off some inward concentration and the edges feel pumice-stone like and refreshing. Drinks with such charm and plenty to go. Fantastic.
